Frequently Asked Questions
Most of the diagnostic software has some sort of cloud base to it. We have found that issues with connections and internet speed are the #1 cause.
Perform a network speed test either through Google.com or Speedtest.net. A minimum of 10mbs Download & 10mbs Upload is required, however the fastest speed your internet provider can sell you is recommended. This will improve all internet-based accessories in the shop, not just the diagnostic laptops.
Call your provider and verify hardware (router, switch, etc.) is up to date. Outdated hardware will slow the speed down tremendously.
Unplug & Reconnect the Micropod from the vehicle. Verify the LED turns on green momentarily. Wait 60 seconds to see if the Micropod appears in WiTech 2.
Plug the USB cable into the Micropod & Laptop. Open the Micropod Setup Utility but DO NOT click Wireless Configuration or Continue at this point. If the Micropod appears within WiTech 2, click the small gear icon in the right corner of the vehicle selection screen. Select “Network" from the drop-down menu and connect the Micropod to your desired Wi-Fi network. Once connected, remove the USB cable.
If the Micropod does not appear after 60 seconds with the Micropod Setup Utility open and the USB cable connected, Call CAS Tech Support.
This is caused when one or more of the Windows Services do not start when booting into Windows or if the user attempts to access IDS before Windows has started all the associated services. It will typically advise you to “Wait 20 minutes and try again.” Don’t bother waiting even 1 minute, this issue will not fix itself.
To resolve this issue you can either update IDS to the next available software release, this includes incremental updates. If IDS is already at the latest version, a reinstall of the current version will resolve this issue.
Also note that manually starting the failing Windows Service may work once but this is only temporary as we have found in the past.
- Select the start menu in Windows.
- Navigate to Ford Motor Company

- Alternatively, go to www.motorcraftservice.com. Under Diagnostic Tool, Support you will see IDS. Select IDS then Software Download. The latest IDS software files will be there to download.
This only happens when a customer links their Microsoft Account to their CAS PC.
The customer must log in to their Microsoft Account through a different PC to access the unlock code.
We strongly suggest not linking your Microsoft account or any other accounts not directly related to your diagnostic tool.
