TECH ALERT: GM GDS/Techline Connect/SPS

Product Affected: GM GDS/Techline Connect/SPS

Condition: Multiple customers are reporting that when signing into their GM Techline Connect (TLC) account, it appears to be inoperative. ACDelco has issued a notice stating that one must clear the ‘cache’ in their PC to get TCL operational. The process to clear a ‘cache’ may not be understood by many technicians.

TECH ALERT: Chrysler’s wi-Tech / Tech Authority products

Notice Date: July 2, 2020
Product Affected: Chrysler’s wi-Tech / Tech Authority products

Condition: FCA wiTech has just released a bulletin indicating their intent to begin charging for individual flash files effective July 8th. The recently released bulletin (# 964), indicates that as of July 8th FCA will require any wiTech user who attempts to do a re-flash, will be required to purchase a ‘Vehicle Programming Subscription’ for $35. It is unclear at this point if wiTech users with a current Tech Authority subscription will have to pay this new fee. Currently, all Tech Authority subscriptions include unlimited flash files. Calls made by CAS into both FCA support for wiTech and wiTech aftermarket support resulted in replies that indicate no one was sure how this fee structure would affect current Tech Authority subscribers. We are continuing to request clarification of this point prior to July 8th.

Actions To Take: At this point there is no immediate action to be taken. If we determine that any shop that has a current Tech Authority subscription prior to July 8th will not have to pay this added fee during their subscription period, we will then be suggesting shops immediately contact CAS to purchase a renewal if they are averaging 4 or more re-flashes per month as a method to mitigate these fees.

TECH ALERT: G-Scan

Notice Date: June 6th, 2021
Product Affected: Gscan-3, Gscan-2, Gscan-TAB

Condition: On May 15th E-ZDS released the 2nd major software release for 2021.

Actions To Take: This release contains updates for 24 different car lines. Of special note for users involved in ADAS calibrations, the update contains the addition of the majority of 2021 Chrysler vehicles. A second major enhancement is the addition of multiple Isuzu vehicle coverages. To take advantage of this development, Gscan owners should download this software release at their earliest opportunity.

Additional information about this update including a PDF document for download, can be found on our website; oemtools.com. Gscan owners who have expired subscriptions will be able to download this release but will not have access to the updated software once it’s been loaded onto their Gscan.

TECH ALERT: Thanksgiving Week 2023

TECH ALERT: Chuck Foster returns

Notice Date: June 22, 2023
Product Affected: CAS customers located in North and South Carolina

Condition:Our CAS sales rep in your area, Chuck Foster has been hospitalized with a severe bacterial infection since April 2nd, 2023. He is now out of the hospital and working from home as he goes through recovery..

Actions To Take: Feel free to call Chuck if you have any immediate needs such as subscription renewals or tool questions. Tech Alert: Tech Authority Down

Notice Date: June 7th, 2022
Product Affected: wi-Tech / Tech Authority

Condition: On Sunday evening, June 5th, Stellanis (FCA) migrated all their various web site portals including Tech Authority and wiTech into one common site. In doing so, all Tech Authority access and operation has been disabled. Basic wi-Tech operation is still functional. CAS is currently working with the authors of this move to create a path for all registered Tech Authority users to become operational. Once resolved we will be sending out a follow up Tech Alert. It is hoped we will have this situation resolved by the end of today, Tuesday June 7th.

Actions To Take: Advise your techs that access to Tech Authority is down and watch for a follow up Tech Alert

Tech Alert: wi-Tech/Tech Authority Down

Notice Date: June 17th, 2022
Product Affected: wi-Tech / Tech Authority
Condition: After the Stellantis company migrated all wi-Tech and Tech Authority subscriptions to their new site on June 5th, all accounts were found to be in-opt or marginally functional. To correct this situation Stellantis had to port over all Tech Authority subscriptions to be associated with the customer’s wi-Tech subscription account. This project was completed appx. 3 days ago. We are now tasked with re-registering all wi-Tech accounts. We are working as fast as possible with multiple employees working on this project.

As each customer’s account is set up on the new StellantisIOP web page, we are sending out a notification e-mail to that shop. We hope to have all shops registered by sometime next week. You will receive a notice via e-mail when your accounts are again active.
Warning: Due to the way Stellantis configured their website with existing registered hardware owners, any shop that attempts to register on the Stellantis site and purchase a 3 day T/A day pass on their own will find that the hardware associated with your wi-Tech account will not operate. Instructions on the proper path to purchase any subscription will be include in your notification e-mail.
Actions To Take: Watch for your notification e-mail. If you have a car-in-the-bay that you wish to service with wi-Tech, contact CAS Tech Support and ask to be set-up right away. Tech Alert, August 8th, 2022

Notice Date: August 8th, 2022
Product Affected: wiTECH2 / Tech Authority / VRS passes
Condition: The www.OEMTools.com web site was non-operational for most of last week. This outage was caused by a corrupt software program running in the background of the web site. As of Sunday, August 7th the site is now back up and running as planned. Shops wishing to purchase VRS’s and day passes can now do so without issue.
Actions To Take: If you are in need of any wiTECH2, Tech Authority day passes or VRS flash files you can now go to https://oemtools.com/mopartsp to purchase.
Remember, when ordering you’ll need both your wiTECH2 e-mail address and Micropod/MDP serial number. CarDAQ/J2534 users will need the device’s 25 digit serial number code found in the software itself. Instructions on where to locate the code can be found on the OEMTools site.
